Hi, I’m Alex Timmer, I design things and I live my life as best I can.
The past
I was born in ’89, in your average family, in an average neighbourhood. Despite these facts, my mind was always running top speed. I’d close my eyes and see myself running through other worlds, I’d see a stack of old wood and saw a brilliant construction in it.
Sadly, many bloody fingers and much crying later I realized that I wasn’t that handy in craftmanship. Nonetheless I was still always thinking, exploring life in a way to look at it beyond the regular shape, form, and meaning of things. It gave me a sense to this world, that things can be as beautiful as you imagine them. Who cares if it’s only in your mind? It’s your mind you’re living with, and it’ll be a blast if your mind saw everything more awesome then it actually is.
But from that philosophy came a urge to create. Thinking back to my failed aspirations to become an old-skool craftsman, I figured there must be something else I could do to put my mind out there in visual form.
Then my dad got his first computer and I found that typing was something I was really skilled in.
The present
Let’s skip a few years. I’m 22 now and my creative urge has brought me mostly towards webdesign and digital graphic work. In my spare time though, I always like to draw. I draw the surrealistic images that come to my mind when I’m not thinking about anything.
In the last 8 years of my life, something else also grew on me. A fierce passion for music, sound, ambient alltogether. I’ve found that explaining an emotion is something you can’t do in words. But combining words with graphics, video and sound – one could come a long way.
The future
Where will it end? Who will know? All I know for sure is that I’m just about to begin living this life to the fullest – who knows where I may end up. Who knows what I might make.
